4th of July fireworks over Atlantic County, New Jersey

Independence Day is right around the corner, and Atlantic County is packed with fireworks, parades, and community celebrations this weekend. Whether you're planning a family outing, looking for the best fireworks vantage point, or just want to soak in the patriotic spirit of the Jersey Shore, there's something for everyone in our corner of South Jersey.

Hammonton Independence Day Parade & Fireworks

Hammonton is going all out for the 4th of July with a full day of festivities that bring the whole community together. Known as the "Blueberry Capital of the World," Hammonton knows how to celebrate in style.

The Parade

The Hammonton Independence Day Parade kicks off at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4th, marching down Bellevue Avenue in Downtown Hammonton from Egg Harbor Road to Third Street. Lineup begins after 10:00 a.m. on North Egg Harbor Road.

The parade also features fun contests for the whole family, including a Patriotic Bike, Scooter, Wagon, and Stroller Decorating Contest, plus a Patriotic Pet Contest. It's a charming, small-town celebration that really captures the spirit of the holiday.

The Fireworks

After the parade, stick around for the main event. The Hammonton 4th of July Fireworks display starts at dusk (approximately 9:00 p.m.) at Hammonton Lake Park, located at 100 Sports Drive. The fireworks are set off from the Little League baseball field along South Egg Harbor Road — so grab a spot near the lake and settle in for a spectacular show.

Borgata Fireworks — Atlantic City

If you want to kick off the holiday a night early, head to Atlantic City for the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa's Fourth of July fireworks spectacular. Produced by the renowned Fireworks by Grucci, this 20-minute show lights up the sky over the Marina District.

The Borgata fireworks display takes place on Thursday, July 3rd at 8:30 p.m. — making it a perfect way to get the celebration started before the 4th. Grab dinner at one of the Borgata's restaurants and enjoy the show from the outdoor pool area or the surrounding marina.

Atlantic City Boardwalk Fireworks

Atlantic City goes big on the 4th of July, and there are multiple fireworks shows along the iconic boardwalk and beach. You can catch displays from several of the casino resorts, including shows visible from the beach and the boardwalk itself. Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot — the boardwalk and beach area fill up quickly on the holiday.

The best part? You can watch multiple shows from one location. Set up near the Boardwalk Hall area and you'll likely catch fireworks from more than one direction as the evening goes on.

Tips for a Great 4th of July in Atlantic County

  • Arrive early. Both Hammonton Lake Park and the Atlantic City boardwalk get crowded on the 4th. For Hammonton, plan to arrive by 7:00–7:30 p.m. to claim a good spot near the lake.
  • Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Hammonton Lake Park is ideal for spreading out on the grass with a blanket or portable chairs. It's a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Check for parking changes. Roads near Hammonton Lake Park and Atlantic City's boardwalk area may have modified traffic patterns on July 3rd and 4th. Give yourself extra time.
  • Keep pets calm. Fireworks are loud, and many pets are sensitive to the noise. If you're celebrating at home, keep furry friends indoors with music or white noise to help mask the sounds.
  • Support local. Many of the fireworks events are organized by local governments and community groups. Grab dinner at a Hammonton or Atlantic City restaurant, and check out the downtown shops while you're there.
